Delete your account
Last updated 21 September 2026
You can delete your Exceptionerror account yourself, at any time. Nobody has to approve it.
In the Android app
- Open the app and tap the account icon (top right) → Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm it is you: type your current password, or — if you signed up with Google — choose Confirm with Google instead and pick your Google account.
On the website
- Sign in at exceptionerror.com, open the account menu and choose Account.
- Under Delete account, enter your current password and tap Delete my account.
If you signed up with Google you may not have a password yet. Either delete the account from the app (which lets you confirm with Google), or use Forgot password on the sign-in page to set one first.
What happens next
- Immediately: your account is deactivated and you are signed out everywhere, including the app (and the app stops receiving notifications for it).
- For 30 days: you can change your mind. Sign in again — on the website or in the app — and choose Restore, and everything is back as it was.
- After 30 days: the account is permanently erased. Your email address and display name are removed and cannot be recovered.
What is removed, and what may remain
Erasing the account removes your email address, display name, sign-in records, friends, follows, group memberships and notification registrations. Posts, comments and messages you have not deleted may remain, shown as from “[deleted]” — delete anything you want gone before you delete the account (you can delete your own posts, comments and messages at any time). Routine server backups may hold a copy of the data for a limited time after that.
